Manchester United’s new minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has heaped praise on Rúben Amorim, describing the Manchester United coach as an “outstanding young manager” and hinting at his potential future at Old Trafford.
The comments, made in an interview with the BBC, have sent the football world into speculation mode.
Ratcliffe, who recently completed his £1.3 billion investment into Manchester United and now controls footballing decisions at the club, spoke highly of Amorim’s work at Manchester United.
"If I actually look at the squad which is available to Rúben Amorim, I think he is doing a really good job, to be honest," Ratcliffe said.
"Amorim is an outstanding young manager. He's an excellent manager, and I think he will be at Man United for a long time."
The bold statement has raised eyebrows, as it suggests that Ratcliffe and his INEOS team could already be thinking about a managerial change at Manchester United.
