Fabrizio Romano News: Chelsea’s Summer Shake-Up: Striker Hunt and Mass Exodus on the Horizon

Chelsea are preparing for yet another massive summer overhaul, with the club’s top priority being the signing of a new striker and a winger. At the same time, the Blues are planning to offload 7-8 players, including some currently out on loan, such as Kepa Arrizabalaga and Axel Disasi.

This latest update, reported by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, signals Chelsea’s continued efforts to fine-tune their squad after a period of heavy investment but inconsistent performances. While the club has spent over £1 billion on new players since Todd Boehly’s ownership began, results on the pitch have yet to match the spending spree.

A Striker is a Must

It’s no secret that Chelsea’s biggest issue has been scoring goals. Despite signing Nicolas Jackson last summer, the club still lacks a clinical finisher capable of delivering 20+ goals a season. With Mauricio Pochettino’s side struggling to convert chances, finding the right No.9 is now a top priority.

So, who are the potential targets?

  1. Victor Osimhen (Napoli) – The Nigerian striker is one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe. However, his £100m+ price tag could be a challenge for Chelsea, especially with Financial Fair Play (FFP) considerations.
  2. Ivan Toney (Brentford) – An established Premier League striker with a proven track record, Toney would bring instant goals. However, Arsenal are also in the race, making competition fierce.
  3. Benjamin Šeško (RB Leipzig) – A younger, long-term option, Šeško has been impressing in Germany and could fit Chelsea’s vision of signing young, high-potential talents.

A Summer Clear-Out is Coming

To balance their books and create space for new arrivals, Chelsea are looking to offload multiple players. Some key names expected to leave include:

  • Kepa Arrizabalaga – The Spanish goalkeeper is currently on loan at Real Madrid, but with Chelsea’s trust in Robert Sánchez and Djordje Petrović, he is unlikely to return.
  • Axel Disasi – Signed from Monaco last summer, Disasi has been solid but not a guaranteed starter. If Chelsea reshuffle their defense, he could be sacrificed.
  • Romelu Lukaku – Still out on loan at Roma, Lukaku’s long-term future remains away from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea will be keen to offload him permanently.
  • Conor Gallagher – A fan favorite, but Chelsea’s financial situation could force them to cash in on the midfielder, with Tottenham among the interested clubs.

What This Means for Chelsea’s Future

Chelsea’s squad has been in a state of constant transition, and this summer will be no different. While the club aims to bring in a world-class striker, they also need to ensure their squad remains balanced and financially sustainable.

This upcoming transfer window will be crucial in defining Chelsea’s next phase. Will they finally build a squad capable of competing for major trophies? Or will another summer of changes lead to more instability?

One thing is for sure—Chelsea’s transfer business is far from over, and big moves are coming.
